The Morris Minor took over the mantle from the Austin Seven as the next great family car built in Britain. It was the first volume car designed by the great Alec Issigonis and although Morris himself disliked the shape , calling it a poached egg, the public disagreed and more than 1.7 million were produced between 1948 and 1971.
