As the Mini aged, special editions helped to keep sales buoyant alongside the Metro which after all shared a lot of Mini DNA.
Consequently, celebrating the fact that it was the undoubted star of the 1969 film, an Italian Job special edition arrived some years later in 1993. Apart from the special badges and interior, the 1000 special cars had the 1275 cc engine so this is another step up the performance ladder from the 998. Only around 100 of these survive after more than 30 years, but the Mini and the original film will surely never be forgotten?
