The Escort Cabriolet reignited our love for wind in the hair motoring and soon most other volume manufacturers had joined the party. In the early 80s there was hardly a four seater car available in the UK a with a hood but by the mid 90s there was plenty of choice. The Escort remained the favourite though: it looked great, went well and boasted the same reliability as the saloon on which it was based. Hoods had also grown up : forget loads of fiddly fasteners and rattling frames, just flick the switch and hey presto! It’s up or down.
This car is also available to drive but if you are too young to drive or just feel more comfortable as a passenger then this 10 minute experience is a great option
